New internist opens Charlevoix practice

Internist Deborah S. Smith, M.D., Ph.D., has opened a medical practice in Charlevoix, where she will see patients on Mondays each week.  Her office is located at 14730 Park Avenue, on the Charlevoix Area Hospital campus.

A graduate of Yale University School of Medicine, Dr. Smith completed her internship and residency programs at The University of Michigan Hospitals and is certified by the American Board of Internal Medicine.  She earned her Ph.D. in social psychology from Washington University in St. Louis.  With the opening of her office, Dr. Smith becomes the third internal medicine specialist in this area; Drs. Reed Freidinger and James Gels also maintain Charlevoix practices.

In addition to her private practice, Dr. Smith is serving as a hospitalist at Charlevoix Area Hospital, where she will manage the care of hospitalized patients on behalf of several local physicians.  Geralyn M. Doskoch, M.D., also acts as a hospitalist and shares an office suite with Dr. Smith.

A transplant to the community, Dr. Smith is married to Daniel Buday, a longtime area resident.  She and her husband make their home in Charlevoix, along with their daughter, Emma.

Those who would like to make an appointment with Dr. Smith may do so by calling her office, (213) 547-6519.
